Frequent forum users may have noticed that we updated our Discourse software, which gave us a nice, new look, but didn’t change the functionality. However, I want to let everyone know that we are now working to update the design, making the forum easier to navigate and making the very valuable information within it much easier to find. If you have any suggestions on improvements you’d like to see made, do please respond here. We can’t promise we’ll honour all of them but we will consider them. Thank you!

Update on the update: On Sunday night, 11 Jan 2025, the forum will be down for maintenance while we update it. This may take up to 48 hours, though we expect it will be much faster than that. Please bear with us, and use the forum as usual until then. Thank you!

It looks like the number of categories went from 2 (General and Travel) to 10. Maybe this thread would now come under Help, Rules and Feedback? Looks like @robertstanier has already started using the En primeur category.
Also see that I got some badge things. Not sure that they really are motivating to me in the context of jr.com forum.

Some of the additions seem to distract rather than add to the JR.com forum.
Banners about how long ago someone posted seem irrelevant.
Offers of AI “Summarize” buttons - I find people post thoughtful well written posts here, and the detail is usually important.

And invasive. Like I’m being stalked.
mmmm its a shame I now have to choice between categories…. I simply cannot find anything now and am not willing to go through 10 categories to find it…. its ashame as when everything is in one place you navigate there more often to see if there’s been traffic… I already felt traffic on this forum is a lot less then other forums but I worry this might now diminish even more …. I posted something yesterday.. but can’t find it back anymore … oh well … there are more important issues in the world at the moment I suppose ….

I believe we’ve now hidden the banners that mention the date of last posting, and the AI summary button has disappeared too.

Hi @joost_van_gelder_Lon my top tip for this would be to visit the Latest tab: https://forum.jancis.com/latest which will give you a chronological feed of the latest posts across all categories.
And to quickly find your own posts, click on your name and the ‘activity’ tab to see a handy list of all your contributions. Which are greatly valued!

Maybe the terms changed earlier but I have to reject all cookies on the basis that now some (500+) advertisers are permitted my data.
Not happy.

I want to assure you that there has been no change in the terms! We do not share your data with anyone, and we do not even have any advertisers. I’m not sure what you’re seeing that gave you this impression but if it comes up again please screenshot and send to us at support@jancisrobinson.com. Thank you!
