I noticed the “Insanely heavy bottle” from Markham at 1,747g and saw that the Crocker and Starr came in at 1,779g. I wondered if these were the heaviest still wine bottles that have been encountered since records began.

This inspired me to go use the handy dandy weight slider on the wine reviews page. There have been 56 still wines weighing over 1800g in the history of the database (some of these were magnums and a couple look like mistypes). The biggest offenders were Hertelendy (Napa) and The Steven Kent Winery (Livermore) — both at 1980g! Alder mentions that Steven Kent has lightened up their bottles since the heavy note was taken.
