Wine Grapes book missing pages / bound with pages out of order

Does anyone have a useful contact at Allen Lane, publishers of “Wine Grapes” who might be able to help with this problem.

Calling @JancisRobinson @Julia_Harding_MW @Jose_Vouillamoz_Sion

I have, admittedly after many years of ownership, found that my copy is missing some pages, and has others duplicated / bound out of order. After I had cause to try and look up Rkatsiteli (after drinking some Armenian wine), I found that the relevant pages were not bound into my copy of the book.

To give you an idea of the problem the pages bound in my copy go … 890, 891, 900 (!), 901, 894 (!), 895, 904 (!), 905, 898 (!), 899, 900 (again), 901 (again), 902, … 914, 915, 908 (!), 909, 918 (!), 919, 912 (!), 913, 922 (!), 923, … and then appear to be correct until the end of the book.

Whether this is unique to my copy, or others have found similar issues would be interesting to know.

You can tell I have had the book for some time as it has the signed bookplate installed that was offered on initial publication - as I purchased my copy on initial release.

If Allen Lane are not sympathetic, I don’t suppose there is an updated version coming anytime soon?

Hi Mark. I am sorry to hear about the issues with the book. We did find to our dismay when the book first appeared that a few people had idiosyncratic copies. I believe such mistakes were corrected in the subsequent reprint. There have been various changes to editorial staff at Allen Lane since publication but I will forward your message to my current contact and see what they say. No current plans to produce a second edition though there are many new candidates for inclusion!
