Just to say how much I enjoyed both of Tam’s Muscadet articles. Just so frustrating how few of the wines are purchasable outside of France! But one hopes that articles such as these will encourage importers to take further interest…
Seconded! This sentence alone describes my ideal white wine I think.
“These wines possess a convergence of qualities that few wines attain. These were wines that tasted and felt like the lovechild of old-vine Swartland, Savennières Chenin Blanc and Santorini Assyrtiko, with a spiky splash of Riesling DNA thrown in.”
Yes, I went through the links to all the wines scoring 18+ and didn’t find any stocked by a merchant I’m familiar with, and only one in the UK at all! A big shame.
The only one I found was Justerinis, who appear to import some of Famille Lieubeau’s wines, including their 2018 Château-Thébaud which Tam awarded 18/20. I see that they are now out of stock but they do at least seem to reliably be importing each new vintage as it’s released.
