In Germany, the Nahe region is the most important region when it comes to volcanic soils.
True that volcanism has had a major effect on the vast array of soils here! Unfortunately there were no Nahe wines represented at the Volcanic Wine Award tastings; just Mosel. But anyone interested in learning more about Nahe’s soils should read David Schildknecht’s excellent overview of the region in the Oxford Companion. And noted that we should do a deep dive into Nahe wines sometime soon. Thank you!
